  • Summary:

Venezuela, 1938. Lost in the Amazon jungle at the age of twelve, Brice is saved by a mysterious traveler, Jouve Deméril. They were together for weeks before Demeril tells the boy the truth of who he is: a famous sociologist from Soror, a planet belonging to a solar system called Helios, who was forced into exile. He stayed on Earth only long enough to save the boy. Following a twenty-year hibernation in space travel, the two land on Soror. When Brice wakes up, he is a teenager. War is brewing across the entire system, and the opposing forces want to reclaim Jouve for their benefit. Brice follows this adoptive father in his flight across the continent. They arrive in Grand’Croix, a multiracial and colorful capital, Brice goes to school, and Jouve makes a contact with the opposition. The teenager grows up to the rhythm of muddled friendships and loves. Wanting to shine with this coveted father, he launches into a dangerous activism. His projects are interrupted by the hardening of power: for Jouve and his allies, it is the precipitous flight to the second Sororian continent.
